City Wide Gallery Walk Night coming up July 23- Friday Night from 5-9:00 pm.

The Bradley Art Gallery will have live music from a Chicago band called Paper Thick Walls....who will play from 5-7:30 pm.....We will have food and drink as well! Come see this awesome band and see and buy lots of very unique original artwork. The gallery is full of new work to see! 2 new additions to our gallery and other things

Its been a long and exhausting time of it to finally expand our gallery to 2 floors! Upstairs from the current gallery we will soon be opening The Artisans Workshop ....a part of The Bradley Art Gallery. Upstairs there will be art classes of ALL kinds...of varying lengths and prices...taught be experienced artists in their medium for both total beginners hoping to learn something brand new...to experts already!
We will also be offering many other "life enriching workshops...creative writing..languages such as Spanish, Italian and possibly Norwegian! And many other varied classes...we will be moving our regular yoga classes on Wednesdays upstairs as well. We have been so excited about it and it almost near the time when we can get upstairs and start arranging the space and getting ready! More pictures soon! I saw this podium and loved it...I thought it would be perfect for the "teacher" to stand ...and have a place to hold paperwork etc...to help them be organized....I love it! Its a beautiful piece isnt it? I get to pick it up on Tuesday...as well as this beatuiful wood jewelry display case. I have been eagerly awaiting my new jewerly to come and fill it! The posters are in the way....but it is a beautiful piece of hickory funriture..and in perfect shape..I am excited to have more room for jewelry here at the gallery!

Dave and Barb Kalland, the King and Queen of Syttende Mai for 2010 came to the gallery today to visit and wish us a good Syttende Mai Weekend! Hope you can come to see us this weekend! We have live music this Friday night---AJ Love playing chicago blues....from 7-10 PM (May 14th) and on Sunday afternoon (May 16th) there is Inna Larson playing tradional Norwegian Hardanger Fiddle music from 10-11:30 in full costume! My new Gallery Birds!!! Yea ...Welcome George and Gracie!

These are my new "gallery birds"! George and Gracie! I just got them last night...I think they will love living at the gallery...so much color and noise and people and attention!!! They are attention mongers! Especially Gracie on the left. She is a Quaker Parrot and George is a Love Bird. George could care less... I think...about peoples attention...but Gracie wants to be loved totally! They are both freaked out today..everything is too new...I am trying to give them their "space" to acclimate...but its so hard...Gracie is so fun! She hasn't been worked with too much...but Quakers can really be big talkers. So, we are going to work on talking...so far she has just imitated my laugh...which was hilarious!! And she gives kisses...but that's all so far. I have to do some reading about these birds so I can be the very best human friend they could have. Quakers live to be about 30....Gracie is around 7. The love bird is around 4 yrs old...I don't know how long Love Birds live...I will find this all out...what a fun new journey!!! Please come and check my new feathered friends out at the gallery!!

About the Artist

As a young child Ann Teliczan moved from her birthplace in Los Angeles to a little farming community nestled against the western slopes of the Cascade mountains near the Canadian border. Her earliest memories are of being just as fascinated by the smallest detail in a wildflower as she was in the beauty of a worn out old shack or weathered tombstone. Ann saw beauty in overcast rainy days, a battle between brilliantly green grass and the ever hazy overcast world that would frequently envelop her family for weeks. She lived in a world of contrasts and contradictions.

Teliczan studied illustration, graphic design and photography as a student at William James College, a liberal arts college that emphasized philosophical thinking. There, she began exploring expressing herself with illustrations and hand colored black and white photography. Today Ann's creative energy marries the realism of digital captures, use of painting techniques and high tech archival printing methods on watercolor paper and canvas.

Ann's work will be in the gallery as of the end of March. There will be a special opening with Ann attending all day on April 24th from 10-6. Come and meet Ann and enjoy the festivities of our Annual Spring Fling Event. There will be live music and refreshments as well! The Event runs both Sat and Sun April 24-25th 10-6 with Live Music and refreshments both days. Ann will be here only on Saturday however! Mark your calendars! More on this event soon!

Madison watercolor artist, Brian McCormick will be exhibiting here beginngin March 11th. "I think of my watercolor landscapes as intimate. They are not of big skies or distant views but reflect the narrow valleys and abrupt hills of the Driftless Region of Wisconsin, Illinois and Iowa: an area untouched by the leveling "drift" of the Ice Age glaciers. My response to the region is a closer focus and more of an emphasis on the flat picture plane instead of perspective. The paintings are also intimate in their focus on the patterns found in the landscapes: the repetition of the forms and color of leaf, flower, stem, branch and tree trunk. My interest in pattern has limited my use of the traditional large areas of watercolor washes-instead I use smaller broken areas of paint that reflect the individual mark of the brush and that create a pattern. I'm drawn to the somber colors and the starker, less appreciated season of late fall when the glory of the brilliant foliage is gone or long past its peak, or winter with its austere color schemes and high contrasts. I work in two formats: square and "triple-square"(one by three units.) I believe these more rigid formats draw more attention to the shape of the painting and help to create a tension between the painting as a referential image and the painting as an object. "

Carol has had artistic interests since early childhood. She began her college career as an art major at the University of Minnesota, but ultimately graduated with a scientific degree in medical technology. It is in the past few years that she has finally had the time to seriously pursue her artistic endeavors.

Her formal art training has been mostly in the form of workshops with various regional and national art teachers including (the late) Zoltan Szabo, Stephen Quiller, Nita Leland, Tim Deibler, Frank Francese, Louise Cadillac, Desmond O’Hagan, Ken Velastro, Jill Soukup, and the Art Student’s League of Denver.

As an active member of the Colorado art community, Carol's work has been recognized with numerous awards. She has given several demonstrations and workshops to artist organizations in the Denver area. Her work can be seen at Spirits in the Wind Gallery, Golden, CO, West Southwest Gallery in Denver, Columbine Gallery in Frisco, as well as various art shows, exhibits and festivals in Colorado.

In the past few years, Carol has focused her painting primarily in oils or acrylics. Her work is characterized by strong emphasis on light, shadow, and, most of all, color. Her acrylic works are more experimental in nature, and she often uses acrylic gel mediums to build up the substrate of the painting giving a three dimensional effect. Her abstract paintings are a relatively new venture into the the realm of collage, design, and composition.

“As an artist living in Colorado, I am inspired by the incredible beauty we find all around us.. In each painting, I seek to capture a moment in time, a certain essence of light, or a scene of natural beauty. My hope is that the viewer can be transported visually, if only for a moment, to that same place I am representing on canvas.

My abstract paintings, I feel, are pure exercises in the creative process. Each one is like undertaking a journey, with no map and no destination. The finished painting is not something I can envision at the beginning, which is what makes the process so challenging. I think working in both abstract and representational styles keeps my work fresh and exciting."

His work reflects the beauty of the simple and classic vessels, timeless in their graceful yet rugged design. Todd is a graduate of the Art Institute of Boston. He lives and maintains his studio on the seacoast of New Hampshire. We are pleased to announce Todd's work here at the Bradley Art Gallery! Todd takes the award for the fastest painting to ever have been sold here at the gallery! I opened his package...hung the work right away...and an hour later one was sold! They are very classic and beautiful...calming to look at...and framed beautifully as well.

My first rug hooking lesson

Joyce Krueger of Waukesha, WI. in her home where she teaches rug hooking. Joyce, a wonderfully warm woman who shares her knowledge and love for rug hooking to many, gave me my first lesson last week! Joyce also makes and sells her own patterns, hand dyes wool which she sells and has rug hooking supplies that are sometimes hard to find. She was a wonderful inspiration! I am on my way! This woman's name is Mary Sheppard Burton. She is an award winning rug hooker...and I love this picture and her words on her web page marysburton.com. She is interested in leaving a legacy of rug hooking for the future generation. Her words and her rugs are truly an inspiration for me as I begin my journey learning to rug hook! It has always been something I have been interested in as I love fiber, texture and color...and as one artist puts it...you can paint in wool! Mary is famous for saying "Make your eyeballs wiggle!" I love that. I hope to meet Mary one day in my travels. So, I will tell you of my new journey as I go along becoming a rug hooker...or a" hooker" for short! If it bores you, move on. But I am too excited about it to keep it all in! Tomorrow, I am going to another wonderfully talented rug hooking artist Joyce Krueger's home in Waukesha, WI. for my very first lesson! She is going to show me the basics and how to get started. I am also bringing back some pottery from a local artist, Ryan Peters to sell at our gallery while I am there! Happy Rug Hooking to me. If I love it, I am going to start a rug hooking guild at The Bradley Art Gallery and work really hard at bringing an awareness and excitement for the art form. Let me know if your interested!

Very Dark...Obviously, we need to paint and put up lights.. It will be gorgeous! The back wall will be metallic gold and the rest white...Of course, the brick stays brick! We love that. The back wall will have a hole in it...for a check out counter and my office will be behind that wall. Behind the office is where the classroom is for the new Guild. Tim will be adding about 20 ft to the back of the building and making the classroom really nice. I wont show classroom pictures yet as the previous tenant still has all her stuff there- (as we said she could)..When she is out...I will take a " before" picture for you all. The new Guild is really fun to think about and will make our Gallery a hot spot for creativity. We will be looking for teachers to hold classes/workshops of all kinds...the secret to success will be the variety of the classes we are going to offer. The For Rent sign is finally down...we have the keys...and were ready to start making it ours! The new "Bradley Art Gallery"!! Watch the photos as we paint, knock down walls and buff floors..put up the track lights...lots of work...but we are excited!!!

Come Fishing at Spring Willow Gallery! Beautiful ceramic fish--Salmon, walleye, bluegills, large mouth bass, trout...etc!!! I do not happen to like taxidermy fish on my walls at home...but these fish are extremely welcome! They are very artistic and classy. A wonderful gift for the fisherman in your life.

Our New building!!! No longer FOR RENT! We bought it last night...Very Cool new space for our Gallery. Our Gallery will be called The Bradley Art Gallery. We hope to be moved in April. It is just 1 block down the road--still in the heart of downtown Stoughton. Please watch for more details. There will be pictures galore showing the progress! We are very excited to be on the lower level now so people will not have to go up the stairs to find us! Also, we will be expanding and starting an "ART CLUB". ( Will not be called this...need to think of a cool name for it!). Basically we have a very nice classroom in the new space which we will use to have art classes of all kinds....all variety of art..all mediums...many different artist teachers...even some weekend retreat workshops combining with a bed and breakfast in town..with great food included...does that sound cool or what??!! E-mail me with thoughts and ideas of what kinds of art you always wanted to do and learn about. All the details to be worked out soon...so just watch and be ready to join in on this creative, enriching journey of fun! You won't have to join-- you could do just one or two classes a year..as it suits you. But for those of us who can't get enough of learning new art skills...joining will have its benefits! Such as; discounts on all classes, discounts on gallery purchases, ability to use the classroom for personal use when there are no classes, ability to rent the gallery out for catered events and meetings amongst beautiful artwork, etc....!!! I can't even begin to tell you what other plans we have...'cause I do not want you to explode with too much excitement...or let the cat out of the bag!!! But lots of really great things are going to be a happenin' at the new Spring Willow Gallery! aka...the Bradley Art Gallery!! Till then, we are still business as usual...at our regular spot...We have over 60 artists work now...and the variety is huge! Come on up and see us --I promise I won't put you to work!...(although, if you like to paint you can grab a brush and I can send you down the street)!

We've been open since July 25th but had our ribbon cutting on Oct. 22 and it finally made the papers this week(end of December)! Oh well, better late than never! Well my computer is finally back and running! I promised some pics from the flying Pig Gallery. It was a joy to meet Robyn and Susan who own it and they gave me much inspiration and helpful suggestions...the gallery is wonderful and I just soaked it all in! We heard a great band Sat night in the gardens..under the twinkling lights...and had breakfast the next morning to chat some more...I find in life, you meet many people who make life a little sweeter...people that help light the path your on......and I am so happy to have been able to meet Robyn and Susan. Thanks to them.

I have always felt so badly when people told me about their computer crashing....I thought ...there but by the grace god...go I...well,...............it crashed! If anyone is wondering why I havent been contacting them as usual...that is why! I am having my "computer God guy" come by and help me and I'll take any and all prayers that we can get it running again..and not lose everything!!! Talk about stress.. Anyway, on a good note..............we are going this weekend to visit the Flying Pig Gallery in Algoma, WI. They are my heroins...and have offered to mentor me a bit...I am so grateful and excited to meet the owners and to see the gallery...we are going to pitch a tent...and see a band at the gallery Sat. night....will post pictures later! The Flying Pig is what I look at in my mind and heart's goal for our future as a gallery owners. The place just makes me happy. They have been at in for 5 years or so..so they have much to teach me..and of course I'll put my own twist to it! If you are ever in the Green Bay area you should go to the Flying Pig Gallery! Remember me in your prayers so my computer and all the gallery information is saved!! I'll keep you posted. Computers are great till they dont work...I think I have been saving on my saving disc...but I wastnt quite sure I was saving correctly...It was on my list of things to do...(to make sure I was doing it correctly)...so here's hoping I was! You all have a great day....make good choices...as I say to my kids! And enjoy the little wonderful moments! Don't let the stuff, like computers crashing, get you down....nothing stays the same. I have another prayer request...my brother in Law (Kim) my husband's twin, needs a new liver as he has been living with cancer for almost 5 years. We are happy to say that he is now on the liver transplant list. So we are praying for a liver....kind of a hard prayer knowing that someone else would need to pass on in order to get the liver....so I never quite know how to pray for that. I know we dont need our organs where we are going.....!!! So, I am also pleading that you all put on your drivers license that you will donate your organs....kind of something you dont want to think about...but so important to those who need them here on earth. Just a thought. Again, enjoy this wonderful day and peace to your hearts!
